New MiniHoarder is coming in November!

New MiniHoarder is coming!

New MiniHoarder is coming!

New site launch day: 2024-11-04

What’s new?

Everything.

We’ve built a whole new platform, by hand with care, blood, sweat and many tears. We focused on building the sort of site that we’d want to use as a customer, while thinking about all the awesome features we want to bring. The storefront experience is clean and fast, and the library search is useful.

We’ve built the site with the atomic unit of ‘model’ (just like with Orynt3D) instead of ‘file’, which leads to a lot of interesting opportunities and features … like integration with Orynt3D.

For customers, we’ve got a few cool little features for you:

  • Taxes are automatically included as you shop, so you shouldn’t ever be surprised by the checkout price being different to the storefront price.
  • Discounts are automatically applied on the site, so you’ll never forget to apply the code again!
  • The attributes filter is an “and” filter, so you can refine your searches just like with Orynt3D, to hunt down the perfect 28mm Post-apocalyptic Cyborg Werewolf you can print with an FDM printer, for your next campaign!

For creators, in addition to the storefront itself, we’ve focused on providing a streamlined uploading process and a first-class file distribution system for your patrons and kickstarters.

“Importing” models and products can be done with dragging and dropping an entire folder. If the folder includes a special file, it will also set up all the details of the model or product for you.

Can I play with it before it goes live?

Absolutely! For the next couple of weeks, the new site is available in test mode, with a few restrictions:

  • Actions taken now will not affect current www.minihoarder.com
  • Previous downloadable files have not yet been migrated, so while you can view existing purchases, you may not have any downloads available.

Purchases can be made using Stripe which is currently in test mode. You can find test credit card numbers here: https://docs.stripe.com/testing , feel free to experiment with them!

You can explore it at https://beta.minihoarder.com, and read more about it at https://beta.minihoarder.com/docs.

If you have an existing account you can simply reset your password (this will not reset your current minihoarder.com site password), or sign up for a new account to get started.

If you have any issues, please let us know at [email protected], [email protected] or join us in Discord.

Creators have been contacted directly - if you’re an existing, a new, or an old creator and you would like to experiment yourself, please reach out to us!

What’s next?

There’s still a lot of design work that is work in progress, but this will continue to evolve and improve over time.

The core components of MiniHoarder are all available: account management, shop front, discounts and model distribution.

For customers, our roadmap is focused on delivering models to you in the best way we can. This means Orynt3D integration and improving internal library management features, after that we’d like to get into gift cards and multicurrency purchases.

For creators, there’s a lot of cross-sale features we’re looking at as well as self-enrolling discounts and distribution. We’re thinking custom landing pages for people to sign themselves up and receive rewards, instead of all those pesky codes.

Of course, there’s a lot of detail in all of this, as well as some things we haven’t shared yet, but we hope you’re excited to join us for this next phase, not just of MiniHoarder, but of Playable Prints.

Happy printing everyone,
‐ Piete & Steve
